Every year, we aim to help a local group who is doing generous work for their community. This year, we worked with a group of local seniors who have been working hard to bring warmth and joy to families across Calgary this holiday season.
For nearly 20 years, the Prince of Peace Village Quilters have created quilts to donate to local hospices and women’s shelters. These donations are possible by selling additional quilts made by the group to be sold at local markets throughout the year. All proceeds from the group’s sales are put directly back into supplies so the seniors can craft more quilts to donate the following year.
We knew we wanted to help this special group of ladies with such a great cause. So, we worked with the Quilters to create additional awareness for their annual Christmas Bazaar this year and were able to help the Quilters earn features across local multiple media platforms, including Sarah Sociables, Global Calgary, CBC Radio Calgary’s The Homestretch.
The media spots helped to boost visibility for the Quilter’s work as well as their annual Market, helping them have their busiest year yet at the Bazaar. The Quilters doubled their sales goal (woohoo!), allowing them more proceeds towards crafting more quilts for more local charities in 2024.
As Quilter Diana Kerr says: “It’s just a good time to give people a hand up and a big hug. This is the way to do it.”
